Mysterious Town

This is the backstory to everyone’s favorite ghost, Claire Elizabeth Beatty. This story delves into Claire’s mind, her emotions, and her actions as a little girl.

Claire’s life, though it did not last long, was filled with happiness until the death of her father to cancer. Her mother, finding it difficult to move on in the same house, made the decision to move them to Welmington to be close to her parents. Claire never liked the decision because it meant leaving all of her friends. However, she was only six years old and could make new ones. At that is what her mother thought.

It didn’t take Claire long, however, and she was the most feared girl in school. She was angry since her father passed away. She was sad to leave her friends behind. She didn’t fit in at the new school. Although she had to do her best to make it work. The other kids thought she was weird and didn’t want to be friends with her. Although she was always mean to the other kids. She had become the school bully. Yet whenever it came to the adults, she treated them with respect and kindness, with compassion. It was the exact opposite from how she treated her peers, pushing them and tripping them.

At home, she was the sweetest girl. She would do everything she could to help her mother and her grandparents. If she wanted something, she would say please. When she was given something, she would say thank you.

Claire and her mother were only living in Welmington for about six months when the accident happened. Driving home from the next town over during the winter, they hit a patch of ice, spinning out of control. The car rolled, ejecting Claire from the vehicle as she had only minutes before taken off her seat belt to pick up a fallen book. When the car finally came to a stop it had landed on top of her. Her mother was in shock to find her only daughter crushed beneath the vehicle, lifeless.

Claire, however, found it difficult to move on, because the only thing she wanted was to make new friends at her new school, and so she eventually found her back to the school as a spirit, her body was buried at the cemetery. Her mother left in grief and sorrow.
